The synopsis and scene previews for Episode 32, “Empress Dowager,” of Season 2 of the anime The Apothecary Diaries have been released ahead of its broadcast. The Apothecary Diaries first gained popularity as a light novel, was later adapted into a manga, and has been airing as an anime since 2023.
Story
In the imperial harem, a strange rumor begins to spread: “A peculiar court lady is catching insects while laughing.” Maomao suddenly finds herself under suspicion. To clear up the misunderstanding, she seeks out Kosui, the one who started the rumor, and asks for details. During her search, she happens to witness Empress Dowager An heading toward the infirmary. Although curious about the purpose of her visit, Maomao has no choice but to return to Jade Palace.
That evening, however, the Empress Dowager visits Maomao. She looks directly at her and asks, “Did I curse the late Emperor?” Then, she entrusts Maomao with an investigation into the former Emperor.
