While accompanying Kōran to the bathhouse they frequented together for her handmade cosmetics, Maomao hears a strange story from Consort Rishu—that a ghost has appeared in the bathhouse of the Kongō Palace. Seeing how terrified Rishu is, Maomao advises her to consult Jinshi. Later, Jinshi orders Maomao to investigate the mystery. When she visits the Kongō Palace to look into the ghost sightings, Maomao learns that Rishu saw the curtain of a closed-off room next to the dressing area sway, and behind it, a white face smiling at her. As Maomao begins her investigation into the cause, not only does the ghost’s true identity come to light, but deeper problems Consort Rishu faces within the Kongō Palace also begin to surface.
